We needed more room and we certainly didn’t want to move, so we decided to do a total renovation of the attic. Currently the attic was being used for storage and it was divided up into 2 rooms.
The first step I took was to look for interior design software online to draw out quick sketches to see what would be the best options to use for our space.
To my surprise there where several free design software available, just do a search, I used Google and picked a software that was compatible to my operating system.
I created 3 different layouts:
- Home Office with a huge Master Suit
- Home Office with one bedroom and a Media room
- Two bedrooms and a Media room
We decided to go with the two bedrooms and a media room since we figure it would add more overall value to our home.

My girls where happy to hear the news that they would get new rooms and live upstairs!
TIP: free design version don’t have all the features like a paid version would, but you can still manage to get your idea across to your contractor.
